Whether in a professional, volunteering or personal capacity, my work and interests centre on the themes of social change, ecological rights and justice. Education about environmental and political issues has been an essential part of my life.
My research focuses on questions around alternative modes of representation and participation, on giving a voice to those without. How can we raise the voice of those not heard in the representative, neo-liberal system?
In my PhD thesis I investigate our relationship with nature in the context of participatory democracy. Whom do (environmental) NGOs represent? Can NGOs claim to represent nature? How can nature be given a voice in politics?
My community and direct action engages with the problems of the economic and financial system based on growth and the resulting social inequalities and injustice.
